

Visit from Berlin: State Secretary Steffen Bilger and Dr. Carsten Linnemann (Member of Bundestag) visit the Universal Transport headquarters in Paderborn
On the 08th of June, Steffen Bilger, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure and Coordinator of the Federal Government for Freight Transport and Logistics visited the Universal Transport headquarters in Paderborn. The managing director of the group, Holger Dechant, welcomed Mr Steffen Bilger and showed him the premises together with the Member of the Bundestag Dr. Carsten Linnemann and the dual student Diana Mendelev.
State Secretary Steffen Bilger learned about the challenges in the planning and implementation of large-scale and heavy transport, as well as digitalization and the diverse range of training which Universal Transport Group has to offer. PStS Steffen Bilger: “I am extremely impressed with what is being done here at Universal Transport. In addition to the economic and logistical feats, I am particularly impressed by the commitment to the employees. Universal Transport has made a big commitment to their drivers, especially in the current Corona pandemic.”
During the tour of the company, various vehicle types of the company’s heavy-duty fleet were presented: the Secretary of State was able to get an idea of special trailers that can transport rotor blades for wind turbines with their telescopic loading area. In addition, Universal Transport presented the Secretary of State with its newly delivered truck equipped with a turning assistance system.
