Get to the bottom of heavy things

The saying goes “A chain is only as strong as its weakest link”.

The “Multimodal Heavy Goods Traffic”, the guiding principle of the 9th special theme day of the Federal Expert Group on heavy cargo transports and crane Work (BSK), requires well thought out concepts so that the logistics chain does not break because of minor details.

The experts of this profession met this summer at the Nuremberg location of a universal transport subsidiary to discuss the latest developments in the industry. Mr. Karl-Heinz Webersberger, welcomed numerous heavy cargo specialists, but also representatives of the authorities, such as Norbert Tiedemann, who is the Deputy Head of the Department of Freight Transport and Logistics at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, and Dr. Michael Fraas, professional city councillor and economic adviser of the city of Nuremberg, in the branch office in the bay of Nuremberg.

The event was characterized by numerous lectures and subsequent expert discussions dealing with the various modes of transport and the requirements for efficient supply chain management. In addition to the welcoming speech of Dr. Michael Fraas, who works as a Nuremberg politic, but is also board member of the German waterway and shipping association Rhein-Main-Donau, and Norbert Tiedemann, who pointed out the challenges of infrastructure expansion and financing from the ministry, specialists for the different modes of transport got a chance to speak. At a multimodal location like the Bayernhafen in the second largest city of the free state, the advantages of rail and inland waterways in heavy goods logistics were also discussed.
