Aktion Lichtblicke transport experience first-hand

You want to be part of a heavy haulage transport close by? Universal Transport gives this opportunity away as part of the “Lichtblicke” campaign, the Paderborn branch auctioned off the exclusive chance to accompany a heavy load transport for a good cause in 2020. We received a total of 64 bids and the parents of Christian Görtz (24) from Krefeld managed to win this experience as a special surprise for their son who is enthusiastic about large and heavy transports.

At the beginning of July, the time had finally come: a tram was transported from Frankfurt to Aachen with a telescopic semi-trailer. The dimensions went far beyond those of a conventional truck. In the afternoon, the tram was pulled onto the special transporter using a winch and rail adapter and secured there.

Before setting off, Christian Görtz and the UT team had time to visit the local concrete factory and enjoy a bite to eat before the big journey  finally started.

As planned, our experienced driver Frank-Michael Tänzel and his excited co- driver Christian Görtz set off at 10 p.m. A support vehicle (BF4) escorted the truck to the motorway and again once leaving the motorway, to the destination in Aachen, where the tram arrived safely at 4 a.m.

“I am a big fan of heavy haulage  transports and I enjoy watching the videos on the Universal Transport YouTube channel. Being able to be there and experience this first-hand was even more impressive and an incredibly special experience. I would like to thank my parents and Universal Transport for this opportunity, ”says Christian Görtz.

The “Aktion Lichtblicke” association was founded in North Rhine-Westphalia in 1998 and supports children, young people and their families who are in need materially, financially, or emotionally.
